What is residential treatment? Who can benefit from it?
Three Rivers Midlands provides safe, structured 24/7 comprehensive psychiatric care which includes thorough psychological and clinical assessment, therapeutic learning environment, and nursing. Adolescents who suffer from psychiatric disorders that debilitate their ability to thrive can receive treatment and return to their communities happy, healthier people.
Three Rivers Midlands’ approach to care is holistic, individualized and future-focused. Because of this perspective, lengths of stay vary anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months. Upon admission, discharge planning is discussed to get the adolescent managed at a lower level of care when they leave the treatment facility
Adolescent Programs (tween and 11+)
KARS
The KARS (Kids Achieving Resiliency and Success Program) is a short-term, co-ed TRICARE Certified program for youth ages tween and 11+ who struggle with significant mental illness, emotional disturbance or disruptive behaviors that may be impacted by developing pathological character traits or social environmental pressures.
This mental health program is designed for behaviorally reactive adolescents with significant impairment in behavioral, cognitive, emotional, familial and/or social functioning. Three Rivers Midlands uses the Kimochis© program which are communication tools that help children manage feelings in positive ways to promote well-being and success in school and life.
KEYS (Co-Ed)
The KEYS (Knowledge and Excellence for Your Success) is a strengths-based, short-term, co-ed, TRICARE Certified program for youth ages tween and 11+ who struggle with significant mental illness, emotional disturbance or disruptive behaviors that may be impacted by developing pathological character traits or social environmental pressures.
This mental health program approaches adolescents suffering from major mental illness and/or serious emotional disturbance with the belief that every crisis is an opportunity for change. While this is not a suitable program for youth with a primary diagnosis of substance abuse, we do accept dual-diagnosis adolescents with a secondary diagnosis of chemical dependency, eating disorders, self-injurious or other addictive behaviors.
New Horizon (Female Only)
New Horizons at Three Rivers Midlands provides psychiatric and behavioral health treatment services for youth ages tween and 11+ with severe emotional or behavioral issues that may include extreme acts of aggression and borderline behaviors which may pose a danger to themselves or others. We deliver services in a residential setting with awake supervision 24 hours a day. A unique aspect to this program is the independent living skills pathway where residents learn basic life and care skills to prepare for independence in the near future.
Our approach to assessment and treatment of adolescents is individualized based on each patient’s needs. Our goal is to move the adolescent toward significant improvement in order to allow placement or a return to a less restrictive environment when discharged.
